It was truly an event for the whole family. We had mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandparents, you name it... with times ranging from under 20 minutes to over 1 hour. No matter how fast we all ran, we all ran together to celebrate the mothers in our lives and to raise funds for women battling cancer.
The Celebrate Your Mother 5K was an exceptionally moving race for Christel Reams. Christel ran with her son Kaleb to show support for her mother, Shirley Karpf, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in September. Shirley recently completed 3 weeks of radiation therapy and is responding well to treatment. She was the lucky recipient of our 1ofUs pink trash can and we hope that it inspires her to keep fighting so she can “Kick breast cancer to the curb”!
Christel and Kaleb have recently completed three other benefit runs to help raise funds for other organizations committed to fighting cancer. Keep up the good work Christel and Kaleb! We would also like to send a special thanks to Kaleb, who is enlisting in the Army.
